Senior Analyst, Derivatives Trade Compliance

We’re looking for a self-starter with a few years of energy trading compliance experience, surveilling derivatives trading activities, likely within the financial services or energy industries.

This person should have excellent judgment and communications skills with sound business acumen. Is that you? Here is what you’d be doing as the point of contact for our internal stakeholders in Supply & Trading, Operations, Legal and more :

  • Perform daily trade compliance monitoring and surveillance activities including reviewing surveillance alerts, escalating issues, closing out false positives, creating and providing KPIs to management etc.
  • Serve as the main point of contact and clearinghouse for all compliance matters; deputizing other Compliance colleagues when needed
  • Take ownership of existing tools and processes used for compliance monitoring and reporting and work with Compliance Management and IT to suggest and implement enhancements our surveillance capabilities.
  • Support Compliance Management with internal and external investigations and reviews of compliance matters.
  • Perform periodic ongoing regulatory reporting obligations across WFS’ globally regulated businesses, as well as identifying opportunities to improve and automate existing reporting processes
  • Identify and escalate risks to Compliance Management and work with all levels of the Company to mitigate these with effective compliance controls within the areas of responsibility.
  • Support the compliance team in giving advice and participate in business initiatives to ensure Company-wide compliance with applicable federal, state, local, and foreign laws.
  • Support the administration of the Company’s global compliance program including supporting delivery of compliance projects and initiatives
  • Support Customer Due Diligence / KYC reviews, sanctions reviews and other due diligence initiatives
  • Support the development, organization of, and delivery of compliance training and communications related to the Company’s corporate policies and applicable laws.
  • What you need :

  • Fluent in English (written and spoken)
  • 3-5 years of trading compliance experience at an energy trading company or investment bank
  • Experience with derivatives and / or physical energy trading operations
  • Experience with trading surveillance tools
  • Experience of CME and ICE market rules with respect to position limits, hedge exemptions, and prohibited trading practices (spoofing, wash trades, etc.)
  • Experience of FERC and CFTC regulations and reporting obligations
  • Self-starter with proven ability to work independently and proactively on assigned tasks and take initiative when identifying gaps or issues
  • Excellent judgment, particularly in determining the significance of compliance matters, effectively evaluating and escalating risks
  • Practical, business-focused advice within scope of responsibilities
  • Strong organizational skills in order to prioritize and manage multiple work streams simultaneously; willingness to assume heavy workload to meet timing and project needs
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, with ability to synthesize complex compliance issues to essential elements for different audiences
  • Strong interpersonal skills, including diplomacy and flexibility, and the ability to interface effectively with personnel at many different levels throughout the Company
