The Industrial Engineer Sr. Position has overall responsibilities for supporting Lean initiatives and developing labor and capacity requirements along with managing product launches.

KEY ELEMENTS OF THE POSITION :
RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO :
Makes plants more productive and efficient by leading the design and implementation of new or improved technologies, systems, and processes.
Leads analysis of operating environment; looks for and identifies process inefficiencies and wastes of time, money, materials, and energy.
Conducts comprehensive time and motion studies.
Develops and evaluates complex pilot programs, simulations, and prototypes. Develops and implements new and enhanced processes and tools.
Designs the complex layout of equipment and workspace for maximum efficiency.
Analyzes and plans workforce utilization, space requirements, and workflow.
Oversees less experienced engineers in conceptualizing improvements, developing business cases, as well as presenting to management and conducting capability studies.
Development of operator methods, minimizing non-value added content and maximizing utilization compared to customer takt time.
Development of plant and cellular layouts using lean principles.
Development of machine and operator balance charts to ensure maximum utilization.
Development of material conveyance between docks and manufacturing groups (tuggers) and within manufacturing groups (flowracks, minomees etc)
Design of operator work stations incorporating safety and ergonomics.
Development of operator job instructions and standardized work charts.
Able to develop launch curves.
Run off and debug support ensuring the above requirements are met at the supplier and AAM facility.
Lean Manufacturing :
Understands and has the ability to train and implement lean principles such as workplace organization, changeover reduction, material control systems such as kanban and level schedule, and value stream mapping.
Ability to lead continuous improvement workshops.
Plant Support & Productivity Projects :
Delay studies, including root cause analysis and implementation of solutions
Time studies and method improvement.
Machine cycle time checks, capability / capacity analysis
Bottleneck throughput improvement
Layouts and cellular rearrangement
Material flow analysis, both between and within manufacturing groups.
Advanced Programs :
Evaluates cost requests and develops initial labor and capacity requirements as well as conceptual plant or manufacturing cellular layouts as required.

Bachelors of Science in Industrial Engineering required
Knowledge of Autocad and Microsoft Office
Previous experience in Industrial Engineering, 5 years required in any manufacturing industry
Able to multi-task, handling multiple program launches and productivity projects across several plants.
Able to work independently and interact with all levels of the organization
Able to work daily / weekly overtime as needed.
Ability to work any shift to support a 3 shift operation.
