TE Connectivity’s R&D / Product Development Engineering Teams conceive original ideas for new products, introduce them into practice.
conduct feasibility studies, testing on new and modified designs; direct and support detailed design, testing, prototype fabrication and manufacturing ramp.
The R&D / Product Development Engineering Teams provide all required product documentation including, but not limited to, Solid Model, 2D / 3D production drawings, product specifications, and testing requirements.
They create and modify detailed drawings and drafting or conceptual models from layouts, rough sketches or notes and contribute to design modifications to facilitate manufacturing operation or quality of product.
Typical fields of expertise include : materials, mechanics and systems, electrical, optics, chemistry, software, automation systems, packaging, testing and measurement, and manufacturing of electrical, mechanical and electronic components, products, and their integration into systems.
What your background should look like :
Perform electromechanical design of components (injection-molded, machined, sheet metal, castings, among others), stack-up analysis, materials and assemblies including model and print generation.
Design, Develop, Analyze, Test and support manufacturing of new position sensors during the NPD process (LEANPD) in liaison with cross functional teams such as scientists, product managers, process development and manufacturing.
Partner with US R&D engineering to understand products and existing processes to improve cost and efficiency (VA / VE projects).
using problem solving methods (preferred Six Sigma or Shainin Red X).
Prototype development in collaboration with platform R&D engineers and process development team.
Prepare procedures and test plans to evaluate products for design verification (DVP&R), product validation (PVP&R) or product improvement, interpreting results.
Perform field failure analysis along with cross functional teams to find root cause and propose solutions to optimize designs.
Expected to interface with cross functional team members in completion of design control documentation through Design Reviews during an ECO and NPI process in a timely manner.
Manage Product Lifecycle Management process for new and existing products.
Collaborate with US R&D and Process Development team to support D&P-FMEA documentation
Interface with vendors to develop new components and improve quality and performance.
Develop mathematical models and calibration / test set ups when required
Competencies & Skills :
BS in Mechanical, Electromechanical, Electrical / Electronic or similar.
7+ experience in product development in a volume manufacturing environment for Industrial, Automotive, Medical, Aerospace or similar industries - preferably in electromechanical position sensors design and manufacturing.
5+ experience with CAD for modeling and drafting preferably Solidworks. Experience in Mechanical Simulation (FEM - ANSYS) is a plus
5+ experience with PLM systems (PDM link - Preferred) and ERP systems (SAP preferred) for BOM & Part creation and maintenance.
Electrical troubleshooting skills (Advanced level).
Strong project management skills are essential.
Experience with design optimization and qualification - electromechanical position sensors preferred.
Analytical problem solver, performing root cause analysis and designing solutions using methodologies - Six Sigma or Shainin Red X preferred
Knowledge of New Product Development Process with Stage-Gate Process (APQP, PPAP).
Experience in product development documentation (FMEA’s, DFM&A, Control Plan).
Experience in Operational Excellence and Lean Manufacturing practices.
Experience performing DOE’s and interpreting results is a plus.
Knowledge of statistical analysis and tools such as Minitab is a plus.
Design For Six Sigma (Green or Black belt) is a big plus.
Self-Motivated, hands on approach to design.
Demonstrated written and oral communications skills
Must be proficient in English Fluent preferably
Frequent travel required ( 25%)
