Job Description

The role : The Supplier Development Manager plays a critical role in the successful operations of the company. The individual is accountable to research, identify, develop, and manage suppliers in Mexico with the aim to hit diversification targets, increase profitability, reduce supply risk, and meet our On-Shelf dates.

As a commercial leader, the individual is responsible for managing and directing over $50MM in annual spend. As such, thorough knowledge and experience in sourcing and manufacturing of electronic component, plastic, textile and other component parts is essential.

The Manager will be the single point of contact between Spin Master and new suppliers and is accountable for the successful development of the Mexico supplier base.

Responsibilities will include end to end management of strategic projects including managing cross-functional teams, providing updates to executive stakeholders and managing escalations.

Primary internal business partners within Spin Master include leaders and associates from Operations, Supply Chain, R & D, Quality, Finance, HR and Product and Brand Marketing.

What can we expect from you :

  • Interface with Business Units and Product Development teams to create and maintain a supplier development roadmap that is aligned with the businesses 3 Year product view.
  • Research external market information and entrepreneurial companies to identify potential suppliers within Mexico.
  • Drive supplier selection in Mexico through robust assessment and qualification processes.
  • Communicate and coach the Business to drive improvement both internally and with suppliers utilizing Lean methodologies.
  • Report findings and opportunities for improvement and verify effective closure of assessment findings.

  • Introduce supplier Innovation.
  • Create Supplier Performance Management framework and apply supplier scorecards to track and report performance and development actions with the aim of continuous improvement.
  • Provide leadership during investigations of major supply issues and or special projects focusing on supplier relationships.
  • Assist with new product launch by working with Mexico suppliers to ensure that key milestones are achieved.
  • Be able to prepare reports and present progress at key stakeholder meetings including executive level.
  • Keep up with current and developing manufacturing and engineering trends that concern manufacturing of products in Mexico.
  • Accountable for Mexico suppliers audit, ensuring supplier compliance, whilst driving systematic problem solving and process improvement plans to deliver value.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders to ensure optimal performance.

  • You should apply if you have the following :

  • 8+ years of goods and services purchasing experience, preferably in consumer durables or like industry. Critical experience includes;
  • sourcing, contract drafting, contract management and Supplier Performance Management.

  • Substantial experience in a high-volume manufacturing environment.
  • Substantial experience in supplier development, (preferably in Europe and Americas).
  • Vast experience with cross functional steak holder management.
  • Expertise to develop and execute objectives for self and others and the ability to effect short-term and long-term business goals.
  • Strong knowledge and experience of Source-to-Pay process and systems such as SAP, or Ariba
  • CPM or related professional certification highly desired
  • Bachelor’s degree (B.A.) or equivalent
  • Fluent in English
