Senior Trader - Location : Mexico City
ADM Oilseeds Commercial Division
This is a full time, salaried, exempt level position
Reporting to the Commercial Manager, this is a high level position which is part of the merchandising team for the Oilseeds business in Mexico.
The primary responsibility of this position is to manage our trading activities, be the main contact for key accounts across Mexico as well as our competitors on the crush side.
Additionally, the ideal candidate for this role will need to be a leader within the group and is expected to nurture the career path and development of Jr.
Traders. The position will also be key to communication with numerous locations and people throughout the U.S for the purchase of different commodities such as sunflower, soybean, canola, cotton and flax (meals and oils) and also reporting on the status of the crush industry in Mexico.
Communicating market values and information to and from all internal and relevant external parties is key. This position requires a high level of strategic thinking, market knowledge, basis and futures risk management, and employee development.
This position would require travel to visit customers and attend required industry events.
Description of Work Performed
Senior Trader on the meals team in Mexico City office
Implement and develop new sales strategies in the region to differentiate ADM from competition (using options and futures contracts)
Work amongst various ADM groups such as US & Mexico offices to create new business opportunities
Find arbitrage opportunities in the market place using our vast Mexican footprint, taking positions in different regions
Understands customer requirements in order to collaborate and add value
Maintain a clear customer database that gives insight into buying habits and rations
Handle all monthly PNL responsibilities
Develops a good working knowledge of freight spreads through various railroads, vessels and local truck.
Works to make quick decisions in a fast market while accepting the responsibility to defend them logically
Develops a clear understanding of local, national, world markets & trends for the commodities traded and beyond
Aggressively makes outbound phone calls to deliver and receive timely market information
Price discovery and bid / offer maintenance to enhance risk management and pricing
Understands and have strict adherence to corporate compliance policies & safety systems & programs
Ensures that individual goals are aligned with company goals
Constantly works on individual personal development within the company
Commitment to generate, enter and follow through on Wave ideas to advance companywide goals
University Degree and minimum of 3-5 years of commodity merchandising experience
Strong oral, written, verbal and formal presentation skills are required in both Spanish and English
Strong project management and organization skills, prioritization and ability to lead and multitask
Aspirations for further career advancement within ADM
Ability to travel 10-20%
