Perform all Production Operator job responsibilities, where applicable. Other responsibilities include performing minor troubleshooting on basic technology equipment and processes, and assisting in training less experienced employees on equipment of basic technology and / or manufacturing processes such as manual / automated assembly or semi-automatic packaging processes in accordance with safety regulations, quality initiatives, lean tools and other principles as documented in Panduit's operating system and manufacturing procedures to meet customer service deliverables.
Can work independently as well as in a team setting, with some leadership or mentoring responsibilities. Has the knowledge and skill sets to execute across multiply basic and some intermediate technologies within the department.
May operate approximately 25% of the next level equipment or processes in continued development towards the next level.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES :
Start-up, operate and shutdown basic technology manual, semi-automatic and automatic assembly / production machines and processes. (40%)
Complete packaging, labeling, and carton of products to include label accuracy, package seal integrity, and counts per package and carton. (30%)
Set-up & troubleshoot basic technology machines and related production equipment and processes. (10%)
Perform quality inspections in accordance with Panduit’s quality systems, procedures and complete all data entry functions.
May be involved in resolving quality issues that occur in production and communicate quality issues to appropriate supervision and / or quality personnel by completing area forms. (10%)
Assist in training and development of less experienced employees. (5%)
Participate in the identification and elimination of waste with the area. Perform daily 5S activities and involved in advancing 5S levels.
Work in accordance with Panduit’s safety guidelines and procedures. (5%)
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE :
Required Degree : High school education or GED equivalent (US) or country equivalent
Certificate(s) : Senior Production Operator training curriculum.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITY :
Straightforward administrative procedures are carried out such as maintaining records, dealing with routine queries, and correspondence and / or operating specialized but not necessary complex machines.
Up to 6 months of practical experience is required possibly coupled with concentrated training for a few weeks.
A fairly narrow range of tasks is carried out that tend to be closely related to one another and involve the use of a limited range of skills.
Some levels of coordination are required in using a keyboard, equipment or hand tools.
Understands basic machines, assemblies, tools and processes, including their designs and uses. Can observe basic manual and automated equipment operations, so that malfunctions and other abnormalities are detected.
Has the ability to monitor, evaluate and adjust basic equipment, as needed. Picks up on technical and mechanical products and processes quickly;
is adept at learning new industry, company, product or technical knowledge; operate equipment using hand / eye coordination.
Ability to solve practical arithmetic problems including basic addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division of whole numbers, decimals, and fractions.
Must be able to use graphs, conversions, ratios and use a calculator, and standard measuring tools. Has a general idea regarding the accuracy of data related to transactions and other activity and how they impact inventory balances, production data and other statistics;
ability to identify errors in data that lead to resolution; ability to examine intermediate job orders to determine details such as quantities to be produced, production times, product specifications, colors and color sequences.
Requires ability to do a few things competently. Having skills to perform tasks, jobs, and processes within scope of job.
Being open minded to new challenges. Requires one to easily move from one task to another.
Minimal levels of visual examination, concentration, and precision over short durations of time. Minimal levels of fatigue sustained through working at regular speeds, with small / delicate parts, and / or working to deadlines or specified standards.
The role is clearly structure and well defined. Problems are readily identified and standard solutions are available for solving them.
The work is routine and repetitive. Choice of action is limited but there is some scope for making day-to-day decisions within well-defined limits.
Other matters are referred to higher authority. Supervision is close but not continuous.
