Description :

The OutsourceCategory Manager is responsible for planning and executing strategies andtactics that ensure CommScope has a best-in-class supply partners that deliverycompetitive costs, assurance of supply, timely technology and consistent highquality.

The role is critical for CommScope to have a competitiveadvantage in the service provider driven, technology based, rapidly expandingmarkets in which CommScope participates.

The Category Manager issupervised by an experienced Global Category Leader, but is expected to performcomplex and time sensitive tasks, both strategic and tactical, with a highdegree of skill based on their knowledge and skill in procurement, theirgeneral business and technical knowledge, and high ethical standards.

Thejob entails managing our strategy outsource partners and / or a set of keysuppliers and / or support a particular business unit of CommScope.

Qualifications

The Outsource Category Manager may be responsible for :

Strategic responsibilities include :

  • Develop global category strategy with aggressive targets aligned with global commodity management and business needs, and challenge and review it on a regular basis with CommScope Business goals.
  • Develop a global strategy to manage the relationship with key mfg. partners who have been selected.
  • Participate in the development of the Global Mfg. Strategy plan (2 & 5 year plans)
  • Lead the source selection process for NPI programs, using existing preferred suppliers and / or new technology leaders.
  • Prepare evaluations for senior team to justify supplier selections.

  • Negotiate commercial agreements such as Master Supply Agreements.
  • Develop and provide expert-level category knowledge, with knowledge of the supply base and global market (prices and practices)
  • Tactical responsibilities include :

  • Lead and manage the key procurement drivers : Supplier performance at or above expectation across balanced scorecard-Cost, Quality, Supply Assurance, and Timely Access to Technology.
  • Conduct commercial negotiations for pricing and terms.
  • Execute and manage supplier's business awards for key products from cradle to grave.
  • Conduct quarterly business and performance reviews with suppliers to improve performance to standards.
  • Manage communications between CommScope and supplier on commercial activities
  • Deep and current understanding of global Outsource supply / commodity markets and leveraging Sourcing methodologies to drive global strategies.
  • Responsible for end to end management of the assigned category; including category strategy, category planning, key projects, category process and policies and managing spend and savings targets for the category
  • Accountable for global category spend savings targets and objectives
  • Lead global category supplier relationships and sourcing opportunities; including bidding methodologies and strategic negotiations
  • Execute global and / or local strategies, working towards the development and management of a strategic sourcing pipeline.
  • Other duties as assigned
  • Basic / Required :

  • Education - BS / BA, preferred MBA (not mandatory)
  • Purchasing & Supply 7+ years Outsource experience across supply chain, with particular focus in purchasing, strategic sourcing, contract negotiation, competitive price analysis, supplier relationship management and performance management.
  • Strong Mfg. experience, including production line optimization and understanding of line test.
  • Ability to draw strategic insights from analysis and effectively summarize and present insights
  • Ability to quantify financial benefits for identified opportunities and initiatives
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively interact in a cross-functional environment with all levels of executive management
  • Understanding of international business and contract law
  • Excellent written and oral communications / negotiation skills
  • High level of proficiency in Microsoft Office suite, including Word, PowerPoint and Excel
  • Experience working with Oracle or similar ERP system.
  • Strong understanding of the electronics industry is desirable
