As a Linux Quality Engineer you will be mainly responsible to :
Understand new features to be added to the system
Engage with developers and architects to discuss features, design approaches and test strategies
Design test scenarios and improve them with feedback from the rest of the team
Write and automate test cases and add them to the current execution frameworks
Pro-actively troubleshoot, analyze, research and even fix failures detected in the system
Install and set up test environments (OS installation, network configuration, etc.)
Open, follow up, validate and close defects
Prioritize, plan and report tasks and deliverables as well as keep schedule and metrics up to date.
B.S. Degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or other related engineering discipline with three years of relevant experience;
or M.S. Degree with two years of relevant experience.
Required experience, skills
Solid understanding of Linux architecture
Understanding of the Open Source development process
Strong knowledge on scripting languages (bash, awk, python, perl)
Linux OS System debugging skills and experience with related tools
Experience with Agile / Scrum programming and continuous integration / continuous development practices.
Knowledge and experience in Validation / Testing (types, levels, approaches, methodologies, strategies)
Experience in writing test plans, test scenarios and test scripts
Experience in reproducing and documenting software defects
Self-starter who can work with minimal supervision in a team environment
Excellent communication skills in English, both verbal and written
Mindset and focus on Validation, Quality, Automation and process continuous improvement
Nice to have :
Open Source project development and contribution experience
Experience with git
Linux development experience in C / C++ at the OS API level or below
Knowledge of Linux Packaging internals, RPM or DEB packaging
Previous experience in a DevOps / SysAdmin role
