Your contribution at AIG

As a leader, you are respected for your deep technical expertise and / or ability to oversee programs and processes. You balance the needs of multiple stakeholders, making sound decisions using data, analysis, experience, and judgment, along with a risk mindset.

Ultimately, you take ownership for key outcomes.

You and your team will handle the Auto Complex claims that have the highest level of complexity and the highest monetary exposure for the company.

This may include coverage determinations, investigating the loss, conducting an independent assessment as to the company's exposure, participation in developing and implementing the most cost effective and timely resolution of the claim, and quantum analysis, ensuring mitigation of indemnity and expense exposure while communicating developments and outcomes as necessary to all key internal and external stakeholders.

May also include cross-border claims handling, including awareness of legal and regulatory systems outside "home" jurisdiction.

Responsibilities

  • Managing Complex claims handling enquiry; coverage determination, quantum analysis and legal liability assessment, where appropriate.
  • Prepares and evaluates investigation strategies, which identify critical issues affecting liability, causation and damages.
  • Appropriately considers opportunities for third part contribution.
  • Makes an independent evaluation of liability and damages.
  • Analyses exposures and tradeoffs between defense costs and settlement / judgment costs as new information becomes available.
  • Makes timely and accurate potential exposure recommendations, ensuring effective vendor and litigation management on Complex claims within a personal allocation, with a focus on significantly reducing the use of outside vendors
  • Reporting key claims messages to VP Severity Claims (Locally in Mexico and to Global AIG offices).
  • Broader internal / external stakeholder communication where required, as Auto technical claims expert and thought leader
  • Delivery of technical training to Complex colleagues and external contacts as appropriate, assist in continuous improvement across the region through support for the Quality Assurance / Regional Audit processes
  • Represent AIG Auto claims expertise on external technical panels and / or industry forums
  • Contribute to maintenance of best practice procedures for Auto Complex claims, consistent with global best practice.
  • A senior technical referral for colleagues within the Complex team, authorizing case strategies and reserves proposed by Complex loss colleagues.
  • Coordinating Complex Management Information for senior business stakeholders and presenting same during business processes (e.

    Accountabilities

  • Timely, accurate and customer focused claim resolution, minimizing indemnity exposure and mitigating vendor and legal expense
  • Effective communication of key Complex claims and Auto portfolio messages to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Financial control through consistent reserve and other financial transaction discipline
  • Accurate and consistent policy interpretation , including assisting others within the Complex team with coverage considerations and preparation of coverage positions
  • In depth knowledge and understanding of claims related actuarial issues and the impact of claims on the loss investigations

  • Strong senior stakeholder management experience, both internal (underwriting, distribution, actuarial, finance and executive management) and external (brokers, major account clients)
  • Market leading specialist knowledge in Complex Auto technical claims topics (as listed over page).
  • Expert policy language skills enabling accurate and consistent policy wording interpretation
  • Market Leading knowledge of legal / regulatory and litigation / procedural requirements
  • Experience in negotiation, mediation, arbitration skills
  • Experience in conducting technical claims audits and effectively following up on findings.
  • Catastrophe management experience
  • Ability to manage claims outside local jurisdiction where appropriate, including understanding of Mexican laws and regulation, regular interaction with claims team in originating jurisdiction and ensure regular reporting in both locations
