Oracle is seeking a Principal System Administrator to manage the global Windows infrastructure for our Database development environment.
This position requires wide and overall knowledge in Windows administration, patching, virtualization, performance analysis, performance tuning, cloud computing technologies and networking technologies.
While their primary role is to support operations for the Windows and Cloud infrastructure, they will be also occasionally required to take active role in testing applications, and diagnosis of IT problems outside their scope of responsibility
Maintain global Windows infrastructure in Oracle cloud and on premise datacenters
Troubleshoot errors, performance issues, deployment issues and provide root cause analysis (RCA)
Build Windows images for mass deployment and develop associated automations
Windows deployments, software installations and Windows patching via WSUS
Automate system setup and configurations across the infrastructure using PowerShell
Works with internal ticketing system to solve issues reported on Windows by users
Works with internal teams to get compute, storage and networking services to facilitate user needs.
Drives innovation and integration of new technologies into projects and activities
Provides domain-specific expertise and overall engineering leadership and perspective to cross- organization projects, programs, and activities
Willing to learn new technologies and products
Follow up on the daily action items
Knowledge Skills Required
Experience in advanced Windows administration and resolving complex operating system issues
Familiarity with Windows deployment technologies for operating system and software
Experience in developing PowerShell automation for Windows deployment, software installation, configuration change, inventory collection, etc
Exposure to cloud technologies
Experience in administration of Active Directory and WSUS
Experience in performing root cause analysis
Good communication skills and the ability to work well in a team environment
Ability to come up with best solution by capturing big picture instead of focusing on minor details / issues.
Possess and demonstrates strong logical-thinking skill, full of intellectual curiosity and high for self-development
8 to 12 years of experience working in IT Operations Infrastructure team
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, or related areas is preferred
Detailed Description and Job Requirements
Define, design, and implement network communications and solutions within a fast-paced, leading edge database / applications company.
Responsible for creating and implementing system enhancements that will improve the performance and reliablility of the system.
Manage the load configurations of a central data communication processor and make recommendations for purchase or upgrade of data networks.
Coordinate terminal orders and cable installation, network system planning, upgrading, monitoring, testing, and servicing.
Approves action requests and specifies purchase requisitions. Negotiates and places orders with common carriers. May play a team leader role for developing System Administrators.
Leading contributor individually and as a team member, providing direction and mentoring to others. Work is non-routine and very complex, involving the application of advanced technical / business skills in area of specialization.
Eight years of related experience in a medium to large network distributed and computing environment. BS in Computer Science or related field.
