AIG’s underwriters help to find insurance solutions for risks from a range of areas. In this case the underwriting responsibility is for the whole Commercial Property Line based in Mexico City.
This position reports into the Head of Commercial Underwriting and leads a team of underwriters.

Ultimately, you take ownership for key outcomes. You will be responsible for the overall management and execution of Commercial Property Line strategy and activities for Mexico.
Primary Responsibilities :
Lead a successful team of underwriters. Motivate the personal team member for their professional development. Support the development and career plan for key team members.
Manage the commercial portfolio of Commercial Property, establishing strategies and objectives for the maintenance of the current portfolio and the new businesses, accompanied by the preparation of the budget, claims loss analysis, and compliance with AIG’s policies for the healthy development of the business.
Actively Interact with other internal functions of the organization building strategic partnerships.
Instruct and check that the team's standards and underwriting guidelines are in compliance.
Accept, reject or modify new requests and renewals sent by brokers. Identify the risks and perform the necessary analysis to underwrite an account, as well as evaluation of the policies under coverage, determines the assumed loss exposure and restrictions by agreements and exclusions.
Elaborate Endorsements that are specific to a particular risk exposure to be approved by the legal area.
Develop and manage underwriting strategies for renewals within the accounts portfolio, including current penetration per product, cross-
penetration marketing per product and specific plans to increase the company's participation in the market.
Develop and implement commercial strategies. Perform independent calls to market and product markets for business development purposes.
Identify market objective, design, implement strategies for product development and build lists of prospects.
Develop and implement a pricing and negotiation strategy. Negotiate coverage and prices with business partners aligned to the quality of the risk appetite and company strategy
Develop an active visit plan for brokers and agents looking to maintain and develop existing business opportunities in the market that align with the appetite of risk from AIG.
What we will be looking for
A proven track record of 10 years within Commercial Property
University degree required and / or Master’s desirable
Prior experience leading teams for 5 years
Fluent in English and Spanish
Experience in placement and understanding of facultative reinsurance businesses in proportional and non-proportional schemes through the open market.
Organizational agility and competence in dealing with ambiguity
Ability to builds strategic alliances, internally and externally, across multiple functions, geographies and business units
Ability to innovate and continues improvement
Strong decision making abilities and risk mindset
Strong problem solving, conflict resolution and negotiation experience
Strong leadership and leading successful cross-functional teams, communicating clearly the vision and direction
Track record empowering teams for success, guiding them through organizational changes and empowerment
