Your key responsibilities
Develop and maintain MSCI's websites and the associated marketing / coverage / sales platforms
As a Full-Stack Web Engineer, have the affinity and the willingness to learn and embrace new skills and technologies
Implement software for client facing UI functionality (data visualization, widgets, themes, stylesheets, interactive animations)
Implement software for back-end functionality (data APIs & data integration, data processing, authentication, caching)
Setup and maintain the health-check and systems monitoring tools
Setup and maintain the build, release and deployment tools (Git, Maven, Gradle, etc.)
Setup and maintain the underlying server components (webserver, proxy, CDN, cache)
Participate in the release and deployment activities
As 3rd line support, troubleshoot issues, devise mitigation plans and create bug-fixes
Document and track your work in MSCI’s ticketing and knowledge base systems
Evaluate new technology, create Proof of Concepts and specify / document the architecture
Work with IT peer groups on joint engineering projects and requirements
Work and collaborate with non-technical business lines, e.g. marketing, research, index, etc.
Your skills and experience that will help you excel
A University Undergraduate (BA) or Master’s Degree in Computer Science, Engineering or equivalent fields.
Good English, both written and oral
3+ years of relevant work experience developing websites and / or web-based applications in a professional environment
Proven industry grade experience in EITHER :
back-end Java development using modern Java frameworks (Spring, Hibernate, etc.)
AND : have a good understanding of the other
Experience with any of the below is an advantage :
Relational database programming (SQL)
Marketing / Sales analytics and automation platforms (e.g. Google Analytics, Pardot, etc.)
Web Content Management Systems (WCMS) and practical experience building WCMS-driven sites.
Liferay Portal and / or the Java Portlet specification
Security considerations of building websites and web applications
Administration of website infrastructure (Linux, Bash, Apache, NGINX, Tomcat)
Cloud hosting (Azure, Amazon) and CDNs (AKAMAI, Cloudflare)
