The Role

Strategic Sourcing & Enterprise Services (SSES) is responsible for the sourcing and operational management of global travel, meetings, congresses, and payment solutions at MSD.

This position always demonstrates a service mindset, working in partnership with senior internal stakeholders to ensure key business priorities and requirements are understood and translated into robust travel, meetings, congress and payments strategies, policies and practices that deliver full compliance, cost optimization, and customer service experience excellence.

Via a strategic approach to Supplier Performance Management, it is responsible for aligning our key supplier partners to the organization strategic plans, policies and objectives, and ensuring the seamless delivery of compliant operations that enable the needs and expectations of our stakeholders and customers to be met in a timely manner.

Is also responsible for the management of key supplier(s) relationships, and the internal resources required to achieve the SSES strategic vision, and to deliver on our commitments to the business.

This is a cross-functional role, is responsible for engaging and managing senior stakeholder relationships at the global, regional and local levels.

Key Responsibilities

  • Accountable for the development and execution of regional and local stakeholder management strategies
  • Acts as a strategic business partner, providing effective consultation to deliver problem solving, and continuous improvement
  • Lead meetings between stakeholder and supplier partners to support the clear communication of business needs, and ensure service excellence and continuous improvement
  • Governance and oversight of supplier performance in accordance with the terms and SLAs as outlined in thecontracts
  • Partner with Strategic Sourcing colleagues to support contract management, issue escalation and resolution
  • Proactively problem solve and manage timely resolution of service issues with suppliers
  • Lead regular review meetings with suppliers and stakeholders at the market / regional / business unit level
  • Be the primary point of contact for key business stakeholders
  • Leverage supplier reporting and / or the SSES Process Excellence Team to provide data insights and analytics that informs and influences effective stakeholder decision making
  • Establish and maintain a high performance culture : Foster teamwork; lead cross-functional meetings; drive the escalation, and mitigation of risks and resolution of issues
  • Foster an environment of open communication, where the status quo is challenged to drive improved performance and efficiency

  • Develops strategic partnerships with key suppliers, and aligns performance management to stakeholder and customer value to ensure service experience excellence
  • Measures supplier performance through SLA’s, SOP’s, KPI’s and Customer Satisfaction reporting metrics to identify and execute on continuous improvement opportunities
  • Communicates business insights and requirements from your region to the Global SSES Operations Team to drive enterprise-
  • level alignment and best practice execution

  • Qualifications

    5 years or more in meetings management / travel experience / account management

    Bachelor’s degree

    Experience in managing a wide range of meeting types for Pharma industry. Is familiar with meetings, congresses, travel, and payments.

    Is up-to-date on regulatory procedures, guidelines and policies.

    Has experience working within Global environments

    Possesses strong written and verbal communication skills

    Strong negotiation and influencing skills

    Experience managing virtual / local teams across multiple regions

    Experience managing strategic supplier relationships

    Ability to provide innovative solutions that drive efficiency

    Proven stakeholder engagement and relationship management skills, with the ability to anticipate stakeholder and customer needs, and translate business requirements into strategies and solutions that deliver value and innovation

    Demonstrates financial acumen and experience managing a budget

    Strong data analytics and reporting skills
