Job Overview

TE Connectivity's Financial Planning & Analysis Teams develop, interpret, and implement financial concepts for financial planning and control.

They perform technical analysis to determine present and future financial performance. They gather, analyze, prepare, and summarize recommendations for financial plans, acquisition activity, trended future requirements, and operating forecasts.

The Financial Planning & Analysis Teams also perform economic research and studies in the areas of rates of return, depreciation, working capital requirements, investment opportunities, investment performance, and impact of governmental requirements.

As part of the manufacturing plant team, the Jr Plant Controller role provides financial support to improve profitability, works with the plant management team to ensure proper controls are in place for continuous productivity improvements, and drives efforts for the elimination of waste.

In addition to helping improve operational performance, the role will be responsible for forecasting / budgeting results, reporting actuals, variance analysis, and financial controls.

The role reports directly to the ISG Americas Finance Operations Sr Controller with a strong dotted line to the Director of Operations.

Responsibilities :

  • Drive improvement of financial and operational performance.
  • Responsible for monitoring monthly and YTD actual costs of production vs. standard costs and financial forecasts, including analysis of variances and making recommendations to management for improvements to standards and processes.
  • Ensure a strong internal control environment is maintained and ensure compliance with Company policies and procedures for all aspects of the manufacturing site.
  • Responsible for all plant reporting, financial, and non-financial.
  • o Annual Budget and monthly forecasting.

    o Month-end close process ownership and report out.

    o Balance sheet accruals and corresponding monthly account reconciliations

    o Productivity and other improvements in project adherence and results. (TEBIT)

    o Capital spend requests creation, submission, and detailed explanation.

    o Productivity, staffing plans, payroll transaction analysis, and temp labor control

  • The Jr Plant Controller position continually strives to improve accuracy and deliver timely and complete submissions of data.
  • Leads to communication and support of any internal or external audit visits to the manufacturing site.
  • Other Ad-Hoc reporting as needed for the plant management team, corporate finance, and shared services.
  • Responsible for supervising 1 Financial Planning Analyst
  • Qualifications & Experience :

  • Bachelors Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field. MBA and / or CMA highly preferred.
  • Minimum 3 years of progressive cost accounting and / or analysis experience, ideally within a large manufacturing organization.
  • Experience of standard costing.
  • Must be able to demonstrate understanding and ownership of initiatives for improvement in-process controls and procedures.
  • Must be highly organized and be able to work on multiple projects that will vary widely in scope, size, and type.
  • Ability to deal with, and effectively navigate an ever-changing environment with a matrix reporting structure.
  • Possess the intensity, agility, and aptitude to successfully manage multiple simultaneous priorities and projects and support a matrix of diverse customers and stakeholders.
  • Ability to effectively develop people and transfer knowledge into and across the financial and manufacturing organizations.
  • Experience in supporting or regular interaction with various management levels.
  • Strong skills in verbal, written, and presentation communications.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of ERP systems, preferably SAP.
  • Demonstrated computer proficiency. Strong spreadsheet skills (MS Office applications) required.
  • This position will be based out of Tijuana, BC Mexico plant, and requires 30 to 50% travel to Redwood City, California.
