Specific accountabilities

The Analyst will support directly the Mexico team members in all transaction / investment functions and asset management activities on behalf of IC.

Typical duties include but are not limited to :


  • Perform preliminary analysis of potential investment opportunities including complex financial modelling, valuation, return analysis;
  • Conduct market and industry research on a regular, updated basis;
  • Contribute to the due diligence process for acquisition and development projects. Summarize and review external reports;
  • Prepare investment recommendation documents for internal investment committees and boards;
  • Work closely with various internal support teams (Taxation, Treasury, Risk) as well as external consultants to ensure that investment meets all the necessary criteria and requirements;
  • Maintain various internal and industry databases as well as identify key benchmark metrics.
  • Asset Management

  • Play an active role in the day-to-day management of Mexico assets and partnerships to maximize returns and ensure they comply with governance requirements and investment agreements;
  • Analyze monthly / quarterly financial and management reports in comparison with approved underwriting, business plans and budgets;
  • Coordinate and validate the adoption of annual budgets for all Mexican assets and ensure adherence to established times frames;
  • Participate in the annual strategic planning process by developing a cash flow and anticipated yield plan for each of the assets managed by the group, as well as projections for new transaction volumes;
  • Maintain the financial and operational management control systems;
  • Compile information and prepare various internal management reports to monitor and update asset management indicators;
  • Help maintain high-quality relationships with existing partners.
  • Location

    The role is based in Mexico City. Travel on a regular basis to the headquarter in Montreal.

    Key requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, finance, accounting, mathematics (statistics), engineering or another relevant fields;
  • Two to four years of relevant experience with direct exposure to investment and asset management within a well-regarded organization (i.
  • e. transaction services, investment banking, private equity);
  • Experience in real estate is an asset;
  • Financial modelling experience is required;
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (expert level with Excel, Word and Power Point). Working knowledge of Argus and Bloomberg an asset;
  • Working knowledge of accounting principles and basics;
  • Highly analytical, proactive and detail-oriented;
  • Ability to work in a constantly changing environment;
  • Strong teamwork and interpersonal skills;
  • Demonstrated ability to work under pressure and availability to work flexible hours;
  • Excellent communication skills in written and spoken English and Spanish; familiarity with French is an asset.
