Can also work in an Oracle office. Hiring team / group description Our engineering team is part of the Corporate Architecture department and develops and supports the Linux OS and Linux Cloud products for Oracle.
In particular the team we are recruiting for is responsible for the Linux Toolchain, Tracing and some Oracle Cloud components.
Position Toolchain Engineer (glibc, gcc, gdb, binutils, go, etc) in Linux Environment. General We are looking for a highly motivated individual contributor who feels passionate about coding and delivering the best product possible.
As part of daily activities, the position involves improving the performance and stability of the GNU toolchain on Linux.
This entails working in part with the GNU tools open source communities, such as gcc, gdb, binutils, glibc, go, etc. Peer review (internal and external) of patches will be standard practice.
Our team is very geographically distributed, therefore the position involves a majority of long distance and electronic communication (phone, IRC, email).
The candidate needs to have a proven ability to work as a team player who can both participate in complex projects with a group of peers and team members.
The position will also require participation in the testing process through test review, analysis, and development. In addition the engineer will be required to interact with documentation, QA and support teams.
Needs to have good written and verbal English communication skills including occasionally presenting and demonstrating to technical audiences.
Needs to be a self-starter, able to deliver projects on time and to high standards with minimal supervision and coaching.
Required Experience - 3 years in Linux / Unix environment. - Strong experience with the GNU toolchain. - Good working knowledge of Linux operating system concepts required.
As a member of the software engineering division, you will assist in defining and developing software for tasks associated with the developing, debugging or designing of software applications or operating systems.
Provide technical leadership to other software developers. Specify, design and implement modest changes to existing software architecture to meet changing needs.
Duties and tasks are varied and complex needing independent judgment. Fully competent in own area of expertise. May have project lead role and or supervise lower level personnel.
BS or MS degree or equivalent experience relevant to functional area. 4 years of software engineering or related experience.
