The Head of LTAM intra America Products will be based in Mexico City, Mexico. The incumbent will be tasked with the ideation, optimization, yield and smooth execution of all services under his / her purview.
The individual will work closely with all parties across the organization to ensure that his / her services achieve their set growth and profit targets.
This includes, but not limited to, the increase of coverage and space allocation on USA LTAM trade (ACX and WC5).
Key Result Areas
Develop an overall network plan for the services under his / her purview, detailing how the network is set up to achieve LTAM Trade’s long term strategic aims.
The plan will encompass coverage, BSA by markets, number of loops, rotations, ships to be used (size and design), partners we will work with and resulting forecasted cost to operate.
This plan should be refreshed annually and must be endorsed by the Head of LTAM Trade, Head of Global Network & Alliances (GNA), and Head of Strategic Liner Management (SLM) before final approval by CTO.
Periodic (monthly and quarterly) review of service profitability to ensure that the planned for yield is achieved. The Head of intra America LTAM Products will provide his / her Pricing counterparts with utilization targets to execute.
The Head of intra America LTAM Products will also guide Equipment Flow Control (EFC) on a weekly / daily basis on tactical yield management issues, including tactical re-
allocation of country BSAs and cargo roll management on a VV basis. The Head of intra America LTAM products will also work with GNA to optimize services, right-
size ships, eliminate or add legs and streamline port move counts to align with prevailing market conditions. Actions emerging from these discussions could include VSP changes (sailing speed, port, move count), ship upsize / downsize / design changes, sailing voids, or one sailing only port omissions.
The Head of intra America Products will also be responsible for management of major service exceptions. The manager will act as the focal point either as the recovery manager or key customer in the event another is appointed.
For void sailings occurring >
4 weeks from ship departure, the Head of Products must get GNA's approval, SLM's approval (pending a business case analysis), provide a valid reason for the sailing, and update the annual plan for void sailings.
If the void sailing occurs
Develop strategic service network plan, which will roll up to a global network plan.
Quarterly review of network P&L at the service level, detailing key reasons for variances to targets, refreshed forecasts for the year and actions to improve on results.
Monthly interface with GNP / Alliance and Ops to ensure that services are operating according to plan and where it is not, work closely to either wrought VSP changes or push for improvements in deliverables by other functions.
Weekly coordination with the Pricing managers to ensure that ships are utilized by highlighting space availability and seeking customers (multi-
Trade pricing teams and SLM) to effectively fill.
Weekly / monthly coordination with the Equipment Flow Control team to ensure that equipment flows are planned in a manner that is consistent to quarterly plan and to work out solutions that may lead to even higher yield for APL’s network.
Track overall effective loading declarations and ship level performance to ensure that each ship in each service is fully maximized and bunker consumption is not outside of variance.
Work closely with GNA Feeder team to ensure that sufficient and reliable connections are made available to achieve planned for volumes.
On an ad-hoc basis, assume overall responsibility in the event that major (ie. impacting following week sailings) exceptions occur to ensure a full recovery is achieved on a timely basis.
Being the APL focal point for tactical matters with partners of the new services and new feeder vendors.

A minimum of 10 years of liner experience with understanding of ship operations, network design and yield optimization principles is preferred
Strong intellect and analytical skills that enables the incumbent to understand and optimize what are complex and interlinked rotations
Very strong business acumen able to take calculated risks
Able to work with others by being respected as the knowledge leader of the TP service network
Effective as an internal marketing person to design, promote and sell the service products to the various internal customers
Drives deliverables mutually agreed to by Trade Pricing, EFC, and GNA, and ensures they are met and delivered on a timely basis
Salary package (local package in Mexican Peso), job grade and job title shall commensurate with experience.
