Job Description

The Automation Engineer will be based Tijuana B.C., this position will be focused on : working on checking the planning of production according to customer requirements, monitoring all systems are met, daily monitoring compliance with established production programs.

  • Here is a glimpse of what you’ll do :

  • Define, develop and deploy automation into Flex sites.
  • Develop automation requirements and specifications.
  • Prepare RFQ’s and solicit quotations from automation suppliers. Evaluate supplier quotations to determine the best combination of technical solution, cost and timing.
  • Prepare customer quotations for automation projects.
  • Develop budget and schedule for projects and manage projects to stay within them.
  • Conduct equipment design reviews and provide design guidance to suppliers.
  • Manage automation suppliers through all phases of projects.
  • Provide on-site support during machine build, debug and testing / qualification.
  • Supervise installation and testing to verify requirements and specifications are met.
  • Draft qualification protocols and support equipment qualification activities.
  • Visionary in the field of automation. Know when to deploy and when not to deploy automation.
  • Develop manufacturing solutions with the best combination of manual, semi-automation and / or full automation. Analyze and plan workforce utilization, space requirements, and workflow.
  • Design the layout of equipment and workspace for maximum efficiency and safety

  • Attend customer meetings at all level of discussions, getting customer inputs and presenting Flex manufacturing solutions, etc.
  • Able to quickly cost analyze and work up the financial justification for automating.
  • Support new product development automation needs, facilitate assembly processes through the implementation of assembly cells and automated equipment at NPI stage and ensure meeting development time-line.
  • Interface with customers and functional owners on product development issues regarding automation. Conduct design-for-
  • automation analysis and provide detailed recommendations.

    Here is some of what you’ll need (required) :

  • BS / MS Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering or Mechatronic Engineering or equivalent
  • English / Spanish communication skills (80%)
  • Industrial Engineering experience working in both HMLV and LMHV assembly processes.
  • Knowledge of automation systems and tools - robotic, vision, material handling, ASRS, Conveyors, PLC, screws / fasteners, HMI, Pick-
  • Place-Pack, Inspection / Test (Structural and Non-Contact e.g. Laser), Application of lasers e.g. Etching / Marking, Dispense process, Machining, Mechanicals (Soft Tooling, Hard tooling, Plastics, etc.)

  • Knowledge of Layout, Tooling / Fixturing, Demand Flow, Cell Concept and Lean Manufacturing and Simulation tools
  • Here are a few of our preferred experiences :

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience working with manufacturing of medical devices (Desirable)Monitor all systems are met
  • Minimum 5 years related experience in a technology-based industry, where a mix of automated and manual assembly techniques is utilized.
  • BS / MS Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering or Mechatronic Engineering or equivalent.
