Responsibilities

  • Generate test case specifications which will be used to assess the functionality and performance of products containing Semtech’s LoRa technology
  • Influence the design of automated verification hardware and software developed to execute novel test cases that must operate autonomously and reliably for periods exceeding 24 hours
  • Collaborate with internal and external engineers, marketing, and customers to specify, execute and troubleshoot test cases targeting devices which utilize Semtech’s LoRa products
  • Develop and review wireless protocol test specifications targeting devices designed to integrate into commercial wireless networks
  • Develop detailed test specifications, technical documentation, presentations, simulation examples and training materials to help promote new products and facilitate product adoption and integration
  • Execute test cases in a laboratory environment in a highly reliable and repeatable fashion
  • Produce detailed and clear test reports including extracting and computing summary statistics of key performance indicators from databases
  • Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Science plus at least 10 years of experience in embedded firmware and digital communication systems design and verification
  • At least 5 years of expertise in designing, executing and qualifying digital communication test specifications
  • At least 3 years of experience testing devices utilizing Intel 8051, ARM, PIC, and / or AVR microcontrollers.
  • Experience with hardware interfaces such as UART, SPI, GPIO, I2C, JTAG, USB
  • Knowledge of wireless protocol stack development, testing and troubleshooting
  • Experience automating test execution and report generation using scripting language such as Python, Perl, Matlab
  • Exposure to embedded firmware development in C / C++
  • Excellent communication skills are a must
  • Flexibility to work with and support remote teams and customers across multiple time zones and the ability to travel when necessary
  • Preferred Qualification

    Master’s of Doctorate Degree with an emphasis on wireless / digital communications systems design and performance assessment

  • Knowledge of network protocols such as TCP / IP, UDP, 6LowPAN, etc.
  • Well versed in digital signal processing theory and practice
  • Experience with laboratory instruments such as Spectrum Analyzer, Oscilloscopes, etc.
  • Experience in one or more communication protocols such as LoRa, Wi-Fi, Zigbee, Bluetooth, GSM / CDMA / UMTS / LTE / NR or Wi-Sun.
  • Experience with developing firmware, drivers and applications for Windows and Linux operating systems
  • Exposure to discrete event & network simulation environments like SystemC, NS2 / 3, Omnet++
