The Role

Dematic is seeking a Global Category Manager (GCM) to support our Direct Procurement team. This is a critical and pivotal position, as the incumbent takes the lead driving strategic sourcing across the metals category, while working within and between functions to reach results at regional and global levels.

This is a highly visible role not only at Dematic, but within greater KION as well; he or she will work to take advantage of synergies at larger scales where possible (peak savings).

The GCM must be able to influence and form strong partnerships with operations, manufacturing, quality, and other leaders, while focusing on best practices, the creation and sustainment of operational excellence, and managing multiple complex and competing priorities.

    Other responsibilities :

    Global responsibility for improving category QDCCIT performance.

    Formulate, communicate, and execute a sourcing strategy relative to direct material.

    Work with Category Leads to identify potential suppliers to supoprt growth and regional needs.

    Develop and Drive global supply base (r.g. approved, preferred, and strategic)

    Consolidate relevant metals / direct material category level data.

    Drive Direct Procurement process and policy compliance.

    Identify Total Cost Optimization for Direct Material / Metals

  • Build robust category funnel that is minimum 2x annual savings target.
  • Identify best level strategic sourcing and negotiations to implement short and long term strategies.
  • What We Are Looking For

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, Operations, or other relevant field required (other combination of experience and certification may be considered).
  • Needs 7+ years of strategic sourcing experience. Preferred 4+ years in a Direct Procurement function at a global organization with complex, global contracts.
  • Preferred 4+ years prior experience in sourcing and negotiating direct goods and services.

  • Has a proven track record of delivering large savings and other value as an individual contributor or team lead; demonstrates in-
  • depth understanding of best-in-class procurement practices

  • Able to plan, set priorities, organize, and coordinate work with and through others.
  • Demonstrates leadership capabilities in a global environment with internal customers and suppliers.
  • Embraces KION Leadership Competencies for Professionals and / or Managers with regard to taking responsibility, welcoming change, fostering communication, understanding our business / customers, delivering solutions, and driving results.
  • Prior experience in using bench marketing and cost analysis tools to deliver negotiation outcomes.
  • Experience in or willingness to work in a complex, remote, and highly matrixed organizational structure.
  • Exhibiting business partnership competencies to drive success by understanding people, teams, and culture.
  • Knowledge of relevant regulations and legal requirements.
  • Able to understand standard contractual terms and conditions to mitigate legal risk.
