Our Optical Communications segment has recently evolved from being a manufacturer of optical fiber and cable, hardware and equipment to being a comprehensive provider of industry-
leading optical solutions across the broader communications industry.This segment is classified into two main product groupings carrier network and enterprise network.
The carrier network product group consists primarily of products and solutions for optical-based communications infrastructure for services such as video, data and voice communications.
The enterprise network product group consists primarily of optical-based communication networks sold to businesses, governments and individuals for their own use.
Purpose of Position.
Provide project guidance, leadership, and PQA expertise for multiple PQA project deployments or PQA initiatives to help the plant understand how to complete analyses on processes and how to use PQA tools to execute on short and long term improvement plans
Drive effort to obtain certifications for all key processes. Coordinate PQA teams and track the projects or initiatives progress
Responsibilities and tasks of the position.
Serve as the point of contact to oversee PQA implementation teams in AMER* manufacturing sites
Function as a subject matter expert in PQA tools, root cause understanding, process performance, CTQ / KPOV Operational Definitions, Built In Quality Control Plans system analysis of quality architecture and process control systems ensuring the manufacturing products and processes meet all quality specifications
Provide informal coaching and mentoring to site project leads and their teams during all phases of project implementations
Deliver formal product quality architecture (PQA) instructions to departments and teams
Provide recommendations for quality assurance tests, inspection procedures frequency and requirements, and measurement precision and accuracy of products and production equipment
Contribute and participate in PQA process certifications, process prior and post audit and if necessary to lead critical projects
Track PQA project status and provide report outs to region Leadership on overall AMER* roadmap
Contribute and participate in standardization of PQA processes in AMER* region taking account global solutions
Provide continuous evaluation of program efficiency for AMER* region in the Sustainability Process to ensure all certification improvements and solutions are maintained
Maintain Share Point tool for AMER* region and manage data gathering to sustain the results of process improvements and solutions
Lead Corrective Action Requests to ensure sustainability process is followed rigorously in solutions for AMER* region
International travel required (*) APAC and EMEA somehow can be considered
Minimum Knowledge and Skill Requirements
Bachelor of Science or Engineering Degree or higher in relevant discipline, Master’s degree a plus
3 years required, 5 years desired of experience as Engineer in Quality, Process, Production, Technology or Product Engineering in a multi-
product manufacturing environment using Statistical Process Control or / and Quality Control & Risk Assessment
DMAIC Green Belt certified, DMAIC Black Belt certification desired, PQA Green Belt experience a plus
Working knowledge of manufacturing Process Control (Error-Proofing method application and Statistical Process Control desired, Customer complaint resolution recommended, Quality Management Systems utilization a plus, etc.)
Demonstrated track record of Quality and Process improvement projects using Six Sigma, DMAIC, or equivalent process improvement methodology
Strong problem solving skills recommended
Statistical training with experience applying concepts such as Process Capability and Measurement System Analysis
Professional knowledge of MS Office (particularly MS Excel software, MS Word, SPC XL desired, Visual Basic a plus)
Knowledge of Minitab or equivalent statistical software a plus
Excellent verbal and written English communication skills required
Ability to manage both short and long term projects
Must be a self-starter, able to work in a team environment and motivate others, while being capable of working independently in a dynamic, business / manufacturing environment.
