Wyndham Hotels & Resorts is now seeking a Director, Development to join our team at WHG Mexico in Ciudad de Mexico, N / A.

Summary

The Director of Development will be responsible for growing WHR brands in México. This position will identify, evaluate, negotiate and close new partnerships under either franchise agreements or management contracts.

These may take the form of single contract agreements, multiple property deals and Non-Exclusive Development (NEDA) agreements.

This person will drive growth for all brands throughout the region to increase the size and scope of the portfolio.

Responsibilities

  • Identify, evaluate, negotiate and close individual franchise agreements, management contracts and multi-unit deals across priority markets and cities.
  • Establish and maintain a strong network of contacts of potential owners, franchisees, partners and investors to feed prospective projects to WHR and work for close key deals in alignment with the growth strategy for the region and the WHR brand.
  • Create awareness within the hospitality development community regarding WHR brands and the strategic values of the company.
  • Forge and maintain lasting relationships throughout the industry with potential investors, consultants, brokers, advisors, service providers and financiers.

    Plan and participate in industry conferences and roadshows to communicate the capability and strategy of the organization from a development perspective.

  • Maintain a framework for the development process from start to finish including feasibility and valuations, site inspections, technical services, due diligence, brand specifications, liaison with the operations team and presentation for approval to the International Approval Committee (IAC).
  • The Director of Development will be an integral part of the process of structuring each franchise or management agreement, most critically during the final negotiations.

  • Maintain effective communication and liaison between departments including legal, contract administration, operations, integration to ensure the fullest and smooth collaboration through all elements of the development and opening process.

  • The Director of Development México will make decisions at the highest level which will impact the company’s room growth.

  • Level of autonomy
  • The candidate will have a high level of autonomy as key contributor within the region. She / He will create a stable pipeline of new deals, relationships and negotiations for steady development growth throughout the region.

    This position’s nature requires frequent travel availability.

  • Supervisory responsibilities
  • No direct reporting responsibilities.

    Scope / Financial Responsibility

    The Director of Development is responsible for room growth, a key driver of our business success in the region, along with EBITDA growth.

    Experience / Certificates / Education

    The ideal candidate will be an experienced hospitality professional with direct exposure to the hotel real estate sphere.

    She / He will have significant experience of all phases of the development timeline from project identification, analysis and feasibility through to contract negotiation.

    She / He will have negotiated the various types of agreement and transactions relevant to hotel development throughout the region.

    The candidate will also therefore have built a substantial network of contacts with potential investors, consultants, brokers, advisors and financiers who can contribute to bringing a potential deal to reality.

    Desired skills and qualifications

  • Significant experience in a hospitality real estate environment.
  • Qualified to degree level in a hospitality, finance or business administration discipline.
  • Proven skills as a negotiator finalizing heads of terms and moving through the legal process.
  • Fluency in English and Spanish.
  • Experience in an operational hotel environment to provide credibility as a hotelier is preferred.
  • Experience in negotiating franchise and management agreements.
  • Minimum of 4 years of field Business development is required.
