The Food Safety & Quality Manager - Mexico will be responsible for providing technical leadership and guidance to the Subway stakeholders on all food safety and quality initiatives as well as emerging issues (crisis management).

They will guide the strategic implementation of programs and systems to ensure the strictest standards of safety and quality are upheld in all global markets.

Position responsibilities include but are not limited to :

  • Provide technical support on EPD / NPD execution for the Mexico markets to streamline the process and drive efficiency, participate in sample revisions, attend key business meetings, connect with Operations to run kitchen and restaurant trials / test (sample revision).
  • Support the implementation of corporate food safety and supplier management processes and systems within the Mexico business units.
  • Lead all quality projects across the Mexico business units : spec management, product approvals, product summits, product evaluation, quality complaints, continuous improvement.
  • Provide expertise, support, and guidance to internal and external partners in resolving complex food safety and product quality challenges within the Mexico business units.
  • Act as subject matter expert for the LAC Incident Management team and collaborate with other functions (IPC, PR, Customer Care, Legal) to resolve restaurant- and customer-based food safety and quality complaints.
  • Develop, maintain & approve product specification in coordination with cross functional team (IPC, OPS, BU, MKTG) & ensure Specs conform with local / regional regulations and with brand standards.
  • The successful candidate will have :

  • Individual must have a strong knowledge / experience (preferably 10+ years) of food science / technology and how it relates to product safety and quality parameters.
  • Candidate must be comfortable with the formulation and manufacturing controls for all product categories (proteins, dairy, bakery, etc.
  • supplied within the Subway system.

  • He / she must have exceptional communication, writing, presentation, and training skills for audiences from both technical and non-technical backgrounds.
  • Individual must also have strong organizational agility, ability to handle conflict within all levels of the Subway organization, and experience developing working relationships with industry and regulatory officials.
  • Individual must have excellent communication skills and ability to influence decisions within the organization using his / her technical knowledge.
  • Food safety certification would be a plus.
  • Project management certification would be a plus.
