Position Title : Product Owner Driver Assistance

Reports To : Supervisor, Driver Assistance

Date Last Revised : February 24, 2020

Position Summary :

This position is responsible for organizing, prioritizing, evaluating, and communicating the work generated by a Scrum team developing solutions for next generation Driver Assistance products and features for commercial vehicles.

Essential Functions :

  • Lead and support DAS team(s) in an Agile / SCRUM environment
  • Communicate with internal and external customer to define the product vision and scope.
  • Define and maintain a release plan for the product using large scale estimation
  • Provide a refined and prioritized backlog of user stories to the development team
  • Develop business cases to determine project priority
  • Assist with develop and execute technical plans to validate system release and product applications
  • Work with the team to incorporate the appropriate Definition of Done into the user stories facilitating product increments compliant with the Global Change Management process and ASPICE concepts (V-model development, requirements traceability), using tools such as Teamcenter PLM and PTC Integrity
  • Willing to travel (test track, customer locations) as required up to 25%.
  • Knowledge :

  • Broad automotive and electronic systems knowledge, preferably related to heavy truck.
  • Knowledge of vehicle communication protocols including J1939, UDS, and CCP.
  • Technical knowledge of Driver Assistance system components and impact on overall vehicle performance.
  • Familiar with CANalyzer, CANape, CANoe, Matlab, Simulink, dSpace, Python, and TruckSim
  • Knowledge and experience with product quality tools such as system FMEA, DVP&R, ISO 26262, ASPICE, and Functional Safety Concepts.
  • In-depth knowledge of air brake systems is a plus.
  • Experience (Product Owner 1) :

  • Desired 3+ years of experience preferably in driver assistance, vehicle dynamics, or vehicles controls engineering.
  • Hands on mechanical, electrical, or test automotive experience.
  • Experience in the heavy-duty truck, bus and / or automotive market is a plus.
  • Strong product design experience.
  • Ability to work in a cross-functional team in a dynamic working environment including international team members.
  • Commercial Driver License (CDL) or willingness & capability to obtain CDL within a year of employment.
  • Backlog prioritization and communication to Scrum team customer desired features.
  • Frequent communication with customers
  • Experience (Product Owner 2) :

  • A minimum of 6+ years of experience preferably in driver assistance, vehicle dynamics, or vehicles controls engineering.
  • Hands on mechanical, electrical, automotive experience.
  • Experience in the heavy-duty truck, bus and / or automotive market is a plus.
  • Strong product design experience.
  • Ability to work in a cross-functional team in a dynamic working environment including international team members
  • Commercial Driver License (CDL) or willingness & capability to obtain CDL within a year of employment.
  • Backlog prioritization and communication to Scrum team customer desired features.
  • Frequent communication with customers
  • Skills :

  • Ability to assimilate data quickly
  • Strong interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills and a proactive work ethic.
  • Capable of prioritizing time / resources / goals and possess strong interpersonal skills to ensure success in a cross-functional, team environment.

  • Education :

  • Bachelor’s Degree or Master’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or Systems Engineering required
  • Travel : Up to 40% required
