The Senior Database Administrator is a highly responsible, technical and administrative database position to manage a large-scale environment, supporting all environment builds, capacity planning, installations, configurations, cluster setup, performance tuning and ongoing monitoring.
Work also involves providing consulting to multiple development teams on analysis, design, development, and performance tuning issues in a proactive manner - driving improvements in reliability and optimization to the database and application services.
This position will support Microsoft SQL, MongoDB, MySQL and / or PostgreSQL environments both on-prem and in the cloud.
What You’ll Do
Perform design, installation, configuration and upgrade of databases.
Coordinate the allocation of system storage and plans future storage requirements for the database.
Coordinate & create primary database objects.
Coordinate & modify the database structure, as necessary.
Coordinate & enroll users and maintain system security.
Provide development and maintenance of the physical database models.
Analyze & implement data security requirements.
Continually improve database administration standards, guidelines, and procedures.
Develop & implement processes and procedures to monitor and tune databases.
Plan, develop and implement processes and procedures to backup and recover the database information.
Plan, develop and implement processes and procedures to maintain archived data on appropriate storage devices.
Analyze, document and present database hardware and technology requirements.
Review database development activities to assure conformance with design specifications.
Participate in and integrate database design with data access development and implementation.
Provide comprehensive database trouble shooting
Assist application developers with query tuning
Communicate and coordinate between development teams on project implementations affecting
major shared data objects
Maintains high customer satisfaction
Flexible with work schedule, on call and some travel.
What You’ll Bring
Bachelor's / Master’s degree in Information Systems, Computer Science or a related field is required. Experience may substitute for the Masters degree.
Seven to ten years of experience using Microsoft SQL Server; Database High Availability; advanced coding; advanced query tuning & support of application design and development.
Three to five years of hands on experience with MongoDB, MySQL and / or PostgreSQL & Windows, Windows Core, and / or UNIX (preferably Linux).
Strong ability to ascertain, interpret, design and document requirements.
Demonstrated knowledge and experience in : physical database modeling; Information Engineering; with Windows, Windows Core and / or Linux;
with coding T-SQL; with Always On, SQL Replication and / or Log Shipping; with SQL tuning; with tuning Microsoft SQL Database Engine;
in multi-tier design and development; with performance tuning application systems; with open systems.
