Position Summary :
This position reports to the site Leader and is responsible for the identification, development and implementation of an effective Health, Safety & Environmental program and associated processes / activities at the Monterrey Technical Center in Apodaca, NL
Essential Functions and Responsibilities
Responsible to develop and implement all core occupational safety programs at the location, including : incident reporting and investigation, HSE risk assessments / new equipment reviews, corrective action follow up, HSE training, auditing and inspections, emergency response, etc.
Responsible to develop and implement all regulatory required safety programs at the location, including : chemical management, permit programs (lockout / tagout, confined spaces, fall protection, electrical safety), personal protective equipment, contractor management, pressure vessel permitting, etc.
Responsible for the sites emergency planning process and leading the site’s emergency response organization and emergency response teams (ERO / ERT) including preparedness and response (drills and training).
Responsible to develop and implement all regulatory required environmental programs at the location, including : waste management and disposal, hazardous and non hazardous waste shipments, environmental monitoring, permitting and reporting, etc
Responsible for the monthly collection and reporting of HSE metrics (incidents, waste generation, energy consumption, training, audit plan adherence, etc)
Main contact for all HSE external agencies, including STPS, SEMARNAT, Proteccion Civil, etc
Assures compliance with all safety, health, and environmental laws and regulations
Establish an effective working relationship with site personnel and Elyria Group HSE resources, R&D personnel.
Follow up on all corrective actions from inspections, audits, accidents, suggestions
Addresses and follow up on all site HSE concerns
Implement continuous improvement programs / projects to achieve site safety and environmental goals.
Implement HSE management system to ultimately achieve ISO14001 certification for the site.
Evaluate HSE implications of site growth activities
Attributes / Skills Required
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, and training platform skills
Strong techinical backgroun in Mexican safety & Environmental regulations. Awareness knowledge of US HSE regulations
Knowledge of ISO14001 internal auditor certification a plus
Ability to lead, motivate and influence others to attain objectives
Proficient in MS office tools
Must act with a sense of urgency and manage with minimal oversight.
4 year college degree in engineering, environmental, safety management or related science
5 years experience in HSE field.
