Controller Location : Nogales, Mexico Job Category : Accounting and Finance Employment Classification : Full Time Description Reporting to the VP Corporate Controller of MKS this position will provide financial & accounting leadership to the Mexico Manufacturing Operations.
This includes forward-looking financial guidance and analysis to the Operations Executives in the region ensuring that adequate reporting, analysis and controls are in place to maintain growth and profitability of the business.
The Controller is also responsible for all US GAAP accounting and reporting to US Corporate HQ's as well as local statutory & tax reporting requirements, managing external audits and ensures compliance with all local regulatory filings & requirements.
Responsibilities : + Timely review of Monthly, Quarterly, and Annual management & statutory reporting requirements, including coordination with accounting firm for audits and tax preparation work, as required.
Ensure adequate control environment exists - implement Corporate Accounting and control policies and procedures. If necessary, provide proper accounting tools or SOP to each operation.
Monitor and report on volume and mix trends of the business. + Coordinating, reviewing and driving Strategic Planning and annual planning processes, including revenue and expense plans, budgets, and capital spending plans, if required.
Responsible for forecast development and preparation / presentation of MBR (monthly business review) schedules. + Reviewing & confirming monthly variance analyses, including detailed analyses of manufacturing cost variances, and operating expense variances, to ensure the operations are properly leveraging their cost infrastructure.
Coordinating review of capital / investment analyses, including sensitivity analysis, to ensure investments made meet Corporate hurdle requirements.
Ensure various weekly / monthly tracking tools are in place (Book, Ship, Backlog, etc.). + Provide support to the regional & US Executives on strategic decisions and initiatives as required.
Develop the analytic and reporting process to support the successful financial outcome of the matrix structure of MKS Instruments.
Provide Support to VP Corporate Controller and Internal Audit teams as required, such as SEC disclosure, SOX controls, GAAP compliance and external audit requirements.
Other projects as assigned by the V.P., Corporate Controller or Sales / Operations Executives. Qualifications and Requirements : + Succeeding in the job requires a relevant University level degree in Finance / Accounting with 10 -15 years of experience in a global US public company (preferably manufacturing);
fluent in English & Spanish. + MBA / CPA / CMA a plus + Experience and strong knowledge of US GAAP, Sarbanes Oxley, local Mexico GAAP & Mexico Customs.
Self-starting, self-directed, team oriented professional, with ability to independently determine the direction of work required and priority of projects.
Proven track record in partnering with a Business Team to drive top-line and bottom-line results. As the scope of the function is wide the ability to organise and prioritise is emphasised.
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and willing to "roll-up" their sleeves as required. + A strong knowledge of ERP applications is a plus, SAP & Oracle preferred.
Experienced financial analysis skills and interactions with executive management and staffs. + Some travel within North America is required.
