Global Commodity Engineer

The strategic sourcing team is made up of supply chain professionals, with a drive to ensure the highest in integrity, innovation and value from our supply base, in support of business growth, operational execution and commercial excellence.

Position Summary :

We are currently seeking a Global Commodity Engineer to join our global team to help drive our strategic sourcing, supplier selection & development, supplier engineering, supplier performance management and materials cost reduction initiatives, with focus on the Mexico / Americas supply base.

The majority of focus will be on development and management of suppliers supporting our Industrial market segment customers within the Celestica Monterrey with a particular focus on large mechanical Build To Print’ components’.

The successful candidate will also support Celestica plants within USA and Canada as needed.

The successful candidate will have significant experience dealing with large mechanical Build To prind’ compenents and be a Subject Matter Expert’ in at least one mechanical area.

They will also be experienced in the management of supplier relationships to ensure delivery of business results and ongoing cost productivity initiatives.

This individual will report to the Senior Supply Chain Manager responsible for the Americas

Detailed Description :

This is a Invididual Contributor position, requiring a candidate who is able to operate with without micromanagement and who possesses significant Mechanical experience coupled with a keen business acumen.

This individual will be expected to manage complex mechanical suppliers from selection through development and into mass production.

In addition to driving the technical development they will also be expected to assist with the business set up and drive cost reductions.

General Requirements

  • Subject Matter expert in large Mechanical Build to Print parts
  • Ability to Review part drawings and develop a sourcing plan from Scratch
  • Ability to review drawings for Build To Print Parts and to provide design feedback
  • Ability to review Build to print parts and provide cost reduction proposals
  • Good business Acumen with experience developing should cost pricing and calculating Total Cost Of Ownership
  • Experience implementing supplier master agreements
  • Ability to support supplier audits and customer audits
  • Ensure compliance to business controls requirements
  • Confident to represent Celestica in customer discussions
  • Other duties as assigned by immediate manager
  • In-depth knowledge of complex Mechanical Build to Print priducts
  • Will be a subject matter expert in Machining, Diecasting, Sheet metal of similar
  • Expert in GDT (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing)
  • Working knowledge of customer contracts, contractual obligations as they relate to supply chain requirements and liabilities, and experience managing business to these contract terms
  • Excellent analytical, negotiation and problem resolution skills
  • Experience with supplier cost reduction, development and strategic sourcing
  • Experience working with customers, staff and suppliers globally
  • Biased toward action to drive ongoing cost productivity, including focus on alternate supplier resourcing where required
  • Track record of supplier quality improvement, and a working knowledge of Lean and Six Sigma
  • Good understanding of IT concepts and integrated business applications.
  • Significant skills required in multi-tasking and time management
  • Strong communication and presentation skills
  • Able to work effectively cross-functionally and with other sites to achieve objectives.
  • 25% Travel is required(COVID regulations permitting)
  • Experience :

  • Significant experience in strategic sourcing and materials cost reduction for complex Mechanical Products
  • 5-7 years of relevant experience in the SCM discipline with majority focused on strategic sourcing
  • Typical Education

  • Graduate degree preferred or Bachelor’s degree in related field preferable Engineering but other degree with relevant experience is acceptable
