RESPONSIBILITY LEVEL :

The Product Portfolio Manager is the point of contact and product champion for the product portfolio for Latin America. The product portfolio manager is accountable for virtually all aspects of the product business for assigned market(s) without having direct authority over the resources required to deliver the results.

He / she owns the business plan and acts as the entrepreneurial business manager with the goal of long term customer satisfaction, competitive advantage, market share and profitability.

Represent the different LOBs to the assigned market business areas they are assigned and coordinate regular feedback from the assigned market(s) business to the LOBs.

This position leads the product management activities for assigned market in alignment with LOBs global strategies and acts as the relationship owner between the LOBs and the regional and sub-region leadership.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES :

  • Builds and directs a diverse and engaged workforce. Develops and motivates people in an effort to drive performance and retention.
  • General Product Management
  • Track revenue, costs, profitability and all other relevant Key Performance Indicators of all assigned products within assigned market(s).

    Define and deliver, in collaboration with regional sales / marketing, annual revenue, market share and profitability targets

    Support Regional Marketing in reporting market share by product and identifying the gaps needed to grow share

    Prepare timely and accurate product portfolio business targets jointly with regional marketing and forecast. Identify major deviations between actual and plan, presenting recommendations when appropriate.

    Maintain tracking of our products and competitors’ products success within the assigned market(s) and identify opportunities and gaps.

    Closely collaborate with regional marketing and sales to define correct channels of distribution to optimize global market coverage

    Closely collaborate with global product line managers to ensure requirements are met within the right cost and schedule targets

  • Sales & Customer Interface (collaboration with Regional Marketing)
  • Develop first-hand familiarity with the sales offices and channels through which primary market needs are addressed.

    Be the customer advocate, define the customer value proposition that is sustainable and differentiated; be the resident expert on the competition

    Integrate with Regional Business efforts to identify and fulfill training needs. Use LOBs expertise and materials to create and / or deliver effective training within local markets (i.

    e. CASH training, product launches).

    Support requests from regional leaders and Regional Marketing to meet with customers that require focused attention on LOB products.

    Includes visits to jobsites, customer offices or customer visits to JCI facilities.

    Provide strong knowledge of full LOB portfolio of products & competitive position, including specific competitive tactics or unique competitors of assigned market(s).

    Represent the LOB product portfolio within the assigned market(s).

    Develop and drive channel optimization efforts

  • Marketing :
  • Work closely with the Regional marketing teams to ensure a consistent marketing message is communicated (internal and external).

    Contribute to regional marketing programs that include assigned product portfolio. Work closely with the global marketing communications team

    Work with global product line management to develop effective methodologies to deliver the product features, competitive advantage, positioning to the field

    Coordinate within the Regional Business to establish phase in and phase out dates

    Drives promotional activities in industry and professional forums.

    Product launch planning and coordination between LOB and Regional Marketing.

  • Product & Strategy Roadmap
  • Responsible for managing LOBs full portfolio of products for assigned market(s) identifying and implementing actions related to competitive positioning opportunities, identifying product gaps, identifying assigned market name brand options to complete assigned market(s) product portfolio needs, effectiveness, and profitability

    Recommends product and system solutions and provides feedback to global product line managers

    Exercises knowledge of business requirements related to BE strategic plan, including maintain product roadmap for assigned market(s) in alignment with Global LOBs Roadmap.

    Deliver the Market and Product Requirements Documents with prioritized features and corresponding justification based on robust market research, voice of customer / voice of market, competitive plans and strategic insight

    Maintain product roadmap for assigned market(s) in alignment with Global LOBs Roadmap.

    Maintain and execute assigned market(s) strategic growth plans for LOBs product portfolio (coordinated with regional business / sales organization)

  • Pricing & Costing
  • Collaborate with Regional Pricing Management to Set strategic market based pricing and work with the regions to ensure revenue and profitability goals are met through tracking of market price & setting sales branch transfer prices (i.e. BTP’s).

    Develop clear understanding of competitive prices and product costs, in collaboration with sales channel.

    Communicate with Regional Management in regard to cost changes and / or FTP changes across the full portfolio of LOB products based on commodity cost impacts, or product design changes.

    Maintain regular communication and tracking of market price levels for use by both the assigned market(s) and Global Product Line Managers.

    Review and respond to factory transfer price discount requests (branch price discounts should be managed by regional business).

    Establish product pricing strategies for new and existing products for review with regional marketing teams to ensure attainment of market share, realize full margin potential, and assist the regions in achieving their financial objectives.

  • Business Planning & Competitive Analysis
  • Capture market product needs through direct engagement with customers and through information exchange and market / application analyses with regional business sales and marketing personnel.

    Develop full understanding of customer requirements, sales channel (JCI direct, agents, or distributors) requirements, market trends, and industry & governmental regulations leading toward effective strategies, plans and deliver results.

    Identify new business opportunities within assigned market(s)

    Assemble competitive information directly available from competitor’s public releases within the assigned market(s) as well as feedback from regional sales and marketing teams.

    Collaborate with regional marketing to supply and track assigned market size and share data to contribute to identifying opportunities and forecasting potential gains from project plans.

    Work with regional marketing to establish agreement and buy in’ around project benefits that will contribute to ROI.

  • Direct Field Support / Application Engineering / SQ Support
  • Provide front-line product and application support for assigned market(s) for full LOB portfolio of products (when necessary)

    Special Modification / Quotation support or application team management (as appropriate within regional / factory structure)

    Support regional sales and marketing with product positioning, product promotion, and application strategies for existing product portfolio

  • Global Process Leader
  • For assigned focus area(s) provide global leadership throughout product management team.

    Collect best practices and establish / communicate global process for assigned focus area(s) (i.e. competitive data database, global literature strategy, etc)

  • REQUIREMENTS :

    Bachelor’s degree (MS / MBA highly preferred) and 8 years of strong familiarity with HVAC / Controls equipment and systems in product or program management, marketing, or sales required.

    5 years BAS or HVAC related experience in technical and / or application experience required. 3 years BAS or HVAC related experience in management desired.

    Must have demonstrable business management skills in a product management environment and must be technically savvy, possessing strong knowledge of field and business practices relating to the identified products.

    Ability to envision and introduce creative tools for fast and effective interaction with the field combining high technical complexity and commercial interests in a seamless and user-

    friendly manner would be a significant plus. Travel is required 30% of the time.
