GENERAL PURPOSE : Oversee and manage project transportation of wind turbines within sites in Mexico and other countries in Central America and Caribe.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS :
Plan and executes the transportation of wind turbine components from various factories to jobsites and return of temporary goods.
Optimize transport, considering cost, lead-time and other parameters.
Responsible for maintaining Project Transport budget, and attends monthly Finance Review meetings to ensure budget compliance while explaining any deviations.
Coordinates with internal and external organizations to ensure that critical shipments are properly routed and delivered to wind farms.
Coordinate with relevant stakeholders in case of delays and damages on components.
Investigate and support problem-solving of delivery and transport quality issues.
Plan and coordinate return transport of transport equipment from construction sites to factories
Monitor and report transport risks, coordinate deliveries and delivery changes with all involved stakeholders.
Ensure proper and thorough transport preparation (pricing, quotations, LSP nomination, etc.) Support technically the Sourcing department to close contracts with transport providers and port operations.
Ensure required surveys (road, test drive, etc.) are done.
Facilitate kick-off meetings during transport preparation.
Create purchase requisitions (PO / invoice tasks) in SAP.
Local Transport market knowledge including equipment, port and airport operations as well as relevant restrictions and regulations for project cargo.
Available to travel to ports and wind farms in Mexico and Central America (only when necessary - 10% of the working time).
Coordinates with Customs team the import of all components inside the countries and the exportation of the temporary transport frames and tools.
Desirable experience in Project Management.
EDUCATION, TRAINING & SKILLS REQUIRED :
Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Engineering or Logistics related discipline.
Strong computer skills including Excel and SAP.
Capable of managing and prioritizing multiple time sensitive tasks in a dynamic environment.
Excellent problem solving and analytical skills.
Excellent oral and written skills in English. THIS IS MANDATORY
Fundamental knowledge of project based business.
Fundamental knowledge of heavy equipment transport (international and national), transport planning, vessel operation and Customs Clearance.
Experience with loading and unloading activities at ports and road transportation.
3 to 5 years of experience in dispatching, shipping, heavy-haul coordination, import / export activity or logistics related field.
Hands On operation on daily basis
Decision-Making : Makes recommendations and performs work independently with minimal supervision.
Impact : Major impact. Results of this job could have an effect on total business results for several months.
Budget Management : Responsible to maintain transport project budgets.
Interaction : Regularly interacts with personnel throughout the company, especially Project Managers, clients, subcontractors and Customs brokers.
